pplying for Faction Membership /PrC/Special Race

To apply for membership in a  Faction, to play a restricted subrace or to obtain a Prestige Class please use the following template. The filled out template must be then sent talesofmoonsea@gmail.com with the subject "Character Concept Application". Please don't expect an answer right away; we suggest that you check back with us in about a week to check on the status of the application.

Your account name/Character name/applying for (PrC: Assassin, Faction: Aventus) etc

  • 1. Race/Class/Alignment/Level Name of the Character you're applying with, so we know who to watch
  • 2. Faction you want to join/special thing you apply for
  • 3. Whether you've been in a faction, which one?
  • 4. Account name(s), characters played recently, usual playing times (time and time zone)
  • 5. Why you (not your character) want in that faction/that special favor?
  • 6. Very brief bio of the character. If an existing character, list the steps you've taken toward the goal you're applying to
  • 7. General outline of goals, plans, storylines to pursue.
  • 8. Anything else you want us to know..

Your account name/Character name/applying for.

If the account is an alias or different from your forum name, we strongly suggest to put the latter in brackets right by the account name. This will speed up the process of contacting you if we have a quick question about your application. Otherwise it will be done by email which may make the response time longer. Example: UnholySpammerOfDoom(Gurb)/Billy Bob Jim Bob/Divine Champion of Bale

1. Race/Class/Alignment/Level/Name of the Character you're applying with, so we know who to watch

If you apply with a character with at least a rank of any divine casting class (cleric, paladin, druid, monk...) or PrC, indicate also the character's patron deity. If not, it is still a good idea to put it here. Example: Human/Paladin/LE/1/Billy Bob Jim Bob/Bale

2. Faction you want to join/special thing you apply for

If you apply for multiple things with the same character, say, a werewolf member of the clergy of Ter with noble blood applying for a position in the Watch, state it clearly here. We don't like it when an application for a special background or PrC is embedded in the character background or goals section. Example: Divine Champion PrC (of Bale)

3. Whether you've been in a faction, which one?

We want to know which DM or PC factions you have been in with other characters, but if this character already belongs to a faction indicate it here as well. Example: Watch, Harpers, Clergy of Tr0m, the Knights that say Ni (PC). This character currently belongs to the clergy of Bale.

4. Account name(s), characters played recently, usual playing times (time and time zone)

Indicate clearly which account will be used to play this character as well as your forum name if different from your account names. Example: UnholySpammerOfDoom(Gurb). Other accounts: SirHighUberlord. Characters: Combat Dummy, Goblin, Elite Goblin, Really Really Scary Looking Kobold and Commoner, Female

5. Why you (not your character) want in that faction/that special favor?

This is the single most important part of your application. We want to know why you, the player, want to apply for whatever it is you are applying for. The thing we care most is how would approving the application benefit the server as a whole, not you in particular. So here is where you have to make your sales pitch about how great this will be for everyone in the server, including the DMs

6. Very brief bio of the character. If an existing character, list the steps you've taken toward the goal you're applying to

We mean it. Be brief. If we need more details about your character's backstory we will ask for them. If applicable, name three things your character has done to warrant the request. For example: things you have done to help the faction you are trying to enter, or things that prove your commitment to your deity, or steps you've taken toward earning the prestige for a PrC.

7. General outline of goals, plans, storylines to pursue.

These are the IC goals of your character. Try to organize it in goals and subgoals, but don't do it if it doesn't make sense. Goals don't have to be complex, but they have to be appealing and engaging for other players. Things we value here:

- Plans that will involve other players, inside and outside your faction, and especially non-faction players. This doesn't mean bigger is better. We would prefer tangible goals that would affect real characters to far fetched goals that attempt to affect everyone in the server but have little or no direct impact on other players on your way to them. For example, a goal to take control of a deposit of some highly demanded mineral by bullying miners into paying you and your faction an entrance fee is more likely to impact players than a goal to take over the Council by gaining allies among the established powers of the city.

- The ultimate goals may be unreachable, but we want to know what doable steps you will pursue towards those goals. For example, you may not be able to ever destroy the Zhentarim threat over the Moonsea, but you may detail specific steps to link the Banite presence in the city to the Zhents and run a propaganda campaign so that their influence in the city is hampered.

- Originality, but avoid being over the top. There's no reason to dismiss down to earth IC goals just because they're common, and it's not too hard to give them an original twist. For example: Your character's main goal for being in the Watch may be something as mundane to make a living and support a future family. But you may translate that into being a selfish social climber that will use every bit of your powers as a guard to increase your own wealth and influence inside and outside the Watch.

8. Anything else you want us to know.

Anything else relevant to the application, such as the names of other players applying at the same time, information about your availability for discussion, and so on.
